Portraits on the Skin: Dialogues Beneath the Surface
Today we want to share with you a story that, unfortunately, has not yet ended happily.
The dialogue under the surface this month is the one we had with Alessandra who told us about her bad experience hoping it can be useful to someone, in view of the summer.
What is your relationship with the sun?
I admit that when I was a teenager I didn't pay much attention to sunscreen, in fact my days at the beach quickly turned into nightmares of redness and sunburn! As I grew up, of course, I learned to better manage sun exposure, always using very high protections, 50+.

What triggered your current problem?
A few weekends ago I went to a friend's house for lunch at the beach, forgetting to bring sunscreen. Without thinking twice, I used a sunscreen I found in his bathroom, assuming it was still good and used regularly.
The discomfort was immediate: as soon as I spread the cream, it unleashed an excruciating burning sensation. The mirror confirmed the worst: my chest and neck were a mask of red spots. Although I washed the product off quickly, the damage was done.

What consequences did you experience in the following days?
The next day, my skin was covered in red blisters. I treated it with soothing products and after a few days the redness disappeared, but my skin was still rough and dry, as if it had been burned.
A month later, my neck and décolleté still have this worrying roughness and, in some places, it is starting to crack.

Now, I am waiting to see a dermatologist, in the hope that he can help me resolve these unpleasant consequences. I have many moles and my concern is also that I have risked some more serious damage. In my misfortune, I consider myself lucky to have applied the skin only on the chest and neck without having time to put it on the face, because it would have been an even more serious discomfort.
What advice would you like to share with those who have read your story?
I would like to appeal to everyone: always check the expiration date of sun products and do not underestimate the importance of using quality and well-preserved products!
My skin, at the moment, is a sad reminder of this lesson learned too late!
I can only wish you to always take the maximum precautions to protect the health of your skin, so that you can enjoy the sun without unpleasant consequences.

Prevention is the best ally for healthy skin and I think everyone should protect the beauty of their own uniqueness!
We hope our advice will be useful.
See you soon!
